Zarin Patel is a Zoroastrian who grew up in Kenya as a child and has lived in the UK for nearly 50 years. She is an accountant by profession and started her working life at KPMG and over 15 years gained her business experience working in a range of industries tackling complex problems. She moved to the British Broadcasting Corporation and was its first female and first Asian on the board as well as its longest serving Chief Financial Officer. She is now a non-executive at Hays plc, Anglian Water plc, HM Treasury, National Trust and senior independent director at Pets at Home PLC. She has 4 nephews and nieces, 6 lovely great nephews and nieces
