About

Sheroo Kanga is an active volunteer.

She says Volunteering is an extremely rewarding experience. Whatever your age, volunteering can help take your mind off your own worries, keep you mentally stimulated and add zest to your life. Just helping and working with others can have a profound effect on your overall psychological well-being.

The important thing is to volunteer for the cause without any expectations.

Since 1980, along with her husband Vispi, she has been an active volunteer in ZAGNY (Zoroastrian Association of Greater New York), having served several three-year terms on the ZAGNY Board of Directors, in different capacities. She very actively participated in the fund-raising efforts for the newly inaugurated Dar-e-Mehr building, in Pomona,

New York.

Sheroo has volunteered for Hospitals, has raised funds for various causes, mainly cancer. Was team captain for 12 years with the Revlon Run/walk for women’s cancers.

Currently she volunteers for The St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and has made that her full-time passion. Helping children get better from cancer and live a full life, is a wonderful experience, as no child should die in the dawn of their life.

Sheroo enjoys cooking, sewing, gardening, and working with flowers. She caters and donates food for different fund raisers and does flowers for Navjotes and Weddings.

She has mastered making Malido and donates it for the muktad prayers and for all religious ceremonies. Muktad days for her are full of loving and bittersweet memories that are very

special, she says. My love for beautiful flowers, art of rangoli (chalk), tasty Parsi food and the soothing aroma of the sandalwood, gives me a peaceful festive feeling during these days.

Her praying is limited to these ten special muktad days. Religion to her is believing in our three miracle words HUMATA, HUKHTA, HVARSTHA. Good Thoughts, Good Words, and Good Deeds.

PRACTICE THESE THREE WORDS AND LIFE BECOMES VERY REWARDING.
