Rukshana Master was born in Poona India and after graduation, decided to follow a career in Fashion Design. She studied Fashion Design in the USA and upon her return in 1968, she opened the first readymade fashion boutique in Poona. 

She married her brilliant husband, Jehan, in 1970 and came to live in England, starting her career in fashion, taking orders from Dickins and Jones and John Lewis for her creations. After starting a family, she concentrated her efforts on Charity Fashion Shows every year, raising substantial funds for many different charities including Cancer Research. She owned a very successful fashion Boutique (Rukshana), in Claygate, Surrey for 18 years, specialising in silk wedding dresses and ball gowns many of which went to the Palace Balls.  The family also restored a ruin in France as a holiday project with their two sons and Rukshana was a Cub Scout Leader for many years.

In 2016 she wrote a biography,  ‘A Cap for the King’, about her illustrious Great Great Grandmother, who was the first Parsi /Indian girl to attend an English school in 1841, which did a lot for women’s emancipation in India.  Rukshana has also written her own autobiography ‘As it Happens, a Sparkling Adventure through life on the Bright Side’. 

Both books are available on Amazon and she is now a Public speaker (publicspeakerscorner.com) and also in the WI Speakers List, giving lively talks on various subjects.
