About

Meher M. Noshirwani is a specialist on conservation and environmental management, with a particular expertise on gender. With over 35 years of experience, she brings a unique multi stakeholder perspective to all her work. She serves as Chair of the Specialist Group on Gender, for the IUCN Commission on Environmental, Economic, and Social Policy (CEESP).

Meher has a Masters in Sociology from the University of Essex, United Kingdom, and has advanced women’s issues, gender, development, environment, and climate change, in Pakistan, the region and globally. 

She is also the Technical Advisor to the Trust for Conservation of Coastal Resources (TCCR), managing and implementing projects on gender, environment, and climate change in the coastal areas of the fishing communities along the Sindh coast in Pakistan.  

Meher currently serves as a Board Member and Chair on numerous committees, institutions and programs, including the Gender Task Force of the IUCN Council’s Governance and Constituency Committee; Board Member of Hisaar Foundation ( Foundation for Water, Food and Livelihood Security); Treasurer and Board Member of The Karachi Conference Foundation.
