Dr. Garda received her M.B.B.S from Mahatma Gandhi institute of Medical Sciences, Sevagram Wardha, Maharashtra and an M.D. in Preventive and Social Medicine from the Armed Forces Medical College, Pune. She has been working in the field of social research for 27 years. She is currently the Director of the KEM Hospital Research Centre (KEMHRC), Pune. Established in 1973, the KEMHRC is a registered Trust and Society involved in several ground-breaking projects in clinical and social fields having an internationally acclaimed reputation. Over the last four decades, the work of KEMHRC has positively impacted the lives of thousands of underprivileged individuals. Dr Garda has proven expertise in various spheres including Public health, Maternal and Child health, HIV/AIDS, women’s leadership, rural and community development and social entrepreneurship. She has been the Principal Investigator for a number of nationally and internationally funded projects. Dr Garda has worked in rural and tribal areas to address several socially relevant issues like domestic violence, menstrual hygiene, women’s empowerment, and child sexual abuse. She was Program Director, for Helplife-an NGO for over 13 years- working to empower differently abled girls to achieve a status in society that they truly deserve.
