Hutokshi Hira was born in Karachi, Pakistan. I Studied in a prestigious school namely Mama Parsi Girls School and later proceeded to study Bachelor of Commerce and Economics from the University of Karachi. My husband Rumi and I settled in Sydney (Australia) in 1986 with our three lovely children who are married to their Zoroastrian partners and we are now proud grandparents to seven beautiful grand kids.
I am very proud to be affiliated with our Australian Zoroastrian Association (AZA) and have served on the Management Committee earlier and later in 2007 and 2008 as President of the Association. My husband and I have been volunteering our services on the Seniors Committee of AZA since its inception in 2007 and we take pride and a keen interest in our Association and it’s wellbeing and try and attend the Working Bee every month with other zealous members – the youth and the regulars of the Association.
My husband and I were humbled and honoured to be chosen to be ‘The Zoroastrians of the Year’ in 2009.
I am further priveleged to be asked to participate and be one of the faces of ‘ZASHA’ a Project that recognizes the essence of ‘Global Zarathushti Intergenerational Women’ under the guidance and auspices of our dear Zerbanoo Gifford the Founder of the Asha Centre in the United Kingdom amongst many other attributes and achievements of this wonderful and selfless soul.
I therefore urge our youth to reach for the stars and pursue and follow the path of Ashoi … as stars don’t create light, light creates the stars, therefore shine your light and be a star.
I would like to share with you Dr. Martin Luther King’s excerpt, “Everyone has the Power for Greatness, not for Fame but Greatness, because Greatness is determined by Service”.
