Rukshana Shroff is a Professor of Paediatric Nephrology at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children, London, and University College London, UK. I was born in Bombay, India and trained in medicine at the Jerbai Wadia Hospital for Children before coming to the UK in 1997. I have been passionate about research since my earliest days in Medicine, exploring key clinical issues through translational studies. I have set up high-quality translational research programs that informs evidence-based practice, eventually aiming to modify the evolution of cardiovascular disease, the biggest killer in CKD patients. Key qualities that have shaped my career include innovative thinking, resilience, collaboration and a determination to improve the lives of children with kidney diseases.

I hold a prestigious senior fellowship from the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR). I am a co-editor for the 8^th edition of Pediatric Nephrology, the definitive textbook in our field. I was elected to serve as a member of the KDIGO Kidney Disease: Improving Global Outcomes (KDIGO) Executive Committee and works on international guideline committees for KDIGO, NICE and ESPN. She serves on the editorial board of several journals and has published over 300 original articles, reviews and editorials. She has contributed to the scientific committee of several international meetings. 

I am passionate about promoting education around the world. I co-chair the International Society of Nephrology Sister Renal Centre program, bringing together centres in developing countries and pairing them up with Nephrology centres of excellence in Europe and North America to promote the dissemination of knowledge and to optimise medical care across the globe.
