Nerissa Mavalvala is an HR professional based out of Toronto. Born and bred in Karachi, she spent the first 26 years of her life in Pakistan before moving to Canada. She has an undergraduate in Business Administration from the Institute of Business Administration in Karachi and a Master of Business Administration from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario. She is also a Certified Human Resource Leader from the Human Resources Professionals Association Canada.
For the last eight years, Nerissa has been working in the consumer goods industry across Pakistan, SriLanka and Canada. Nerissa joined Unilever in 2015 as a Future Leader in their global Graduate Program and progressed to the ranks of Manager Talent & Organization. After moving to Canada, she has been associated with Reckitt Canada as the HR Manager for the Health & Nutrition business units. Her interest lies in HR business partnering and championing employee wellbeing and inclusion initiatives, with expertise in leading transformation projects particularly from a digital and technology lens.
Outside to her career and academics, Nerissa is an avid traveller who appreciates learning about different cultures globally. With a passion for community service, she seeks to indulge in volunteer work in her spare time to continue give back to society. During the formative years of her career, she has served on the Executive Boards of student-run not-for-profits such as AIESEC and Meri Bhi Aik Khuaish Hai. In Karachi, she was also part of the entertainment committee of the Karachi Zarthosti Banu Mandal working towards keeping the community spirit alive. More recently in Canada she has been associated with volunteer work through the Queen’s University, Centre of Social Impact.
